Would you like to play a game? (recommendations for new gamers)

If anyone is bored and is looking for a game to play (a.k.a. people who aren't playing Reach or Black Ops), here are some good ones, organized by platform. They are mostly old games.

PC:
Civilization, any of them (try II if you haven't)
Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade (Great RTS, especially for fans of 40k)
WarGames (doesn't have a whole lot to do with the movie, it's a pretty old game, but a good RTS)

Xbox:
Republic Commando (A solid Star Wars Squad based shooter with good in-game dialogue)
Knights of the Old Republic (If you've played it, play it again)
Crimson Skies (Probably a bit dated now, but it's got great airplane combat with upgrades)
Ultimate Alliance 1 (better than 2) is a little cheesy, a little buggy, but somehow captures the fun of putting all your favorite superheroes in a team and upgrading their many abilities far better than the second one. The in-game graphics are aging, but the cutscenes are pretty amazing for original Xbox. And you get more powers in this one, as well as items you can pick up and equip.

Gamecube:
Metriod Prime (I actually haven't played these, but I will when I get a system that can)
Jedi Knight II

360:
I can't really recommend any games here that haven't already been lathered in press. That said, Reach does live up to the hype. Haven't tried Black Ops yet. However, if you missed it, Mass Effect 1 is a must play. The graphics still hold up after 3 years. The gameplay is occasionally buggy, and the menus can get annoying, but it still earns a 9.5/10 in my book despite all that. The game is so good, you will completely forget its minor flaws. It's that great.
If you like Wolverine, and haven't played the "Origins" game yet, let me just say this: There are about 100 different ways to kill dudes, the combat is true-to-character, and it's about 12 hrs. long. It may not be for everyone, but I played through twice, once on medium, and once on hard after unlocking it for beating the game. Plus, the QTEs, for the most part (save a couple mini-bosses) are pretty cool, not too common to be annoying, and occasionally jaw-dropping.
Flaws: Story is meh, but I actually liked it better than the movie's story (both are still wrong). The occasional graphical glitch (largely forgivable, especially considering it's a movie game), as well as the rare glitch where you get stuck outside of a level. That only happened once, but it did cost me an achievement.
I think I already reviewed that game when it came out. Oh well, there it is again.

PS3:
Haven't played anything on this yet.

Wii:
Umm... anything first party, almost nothing third party. You should know that by now if you have one.

So, this is essentially a list of games you may have missed over the last 10-20 years that I didn't (mostly), and you should play.

Also, if you're new to gaming, here's a list of recommended titles to start with, depending on the genre that interests you.

Shooter: Halo 1 (combat evolved). Why: because it's not too complex, it has an easy setting, but it has controls and gameplay that will prep you for any modern shooter.

RTS: Age Of Empires (1 or 2). Why: It's got all the key components of an RTS, but not overwhelming on easy. Plus, it's great.

RPG: Um... I don't recommend jumping right into an RPG if you're new to gaming. Start with Halo, then move to Mass Effect, because the RPG element there is pretty light, but enough to prep someone for a deeper RPG after that. Or if you're eager, you could just skip straight into Mass Effect 2, but you'd miss some story from 1, and the RPG element is so light there, that you might not even get a taste of it. (traditional RPGs, of course. The story element is heavy like rain).
Alternative: play a text-based RPG, if you like reading.

Just wanted to post. I'm still playing Super Metroid, I think I'm close to getting the final suit upgrade. That game is harder than Reach on Heroic, which is hard by 2010 standards, but it was apparently not too hard by 1994 standards. Anyway.

....I bought Super Metroid the other day. The actual cartridge, from 1994, and have been playing it on the SNES. The difficulty is such that I can no longer think of too many other things than playing the game while I'm playing it.
I suppose I should let you know I've never played this game before (!).
But it is AMAZING, I love all aspects of it. The music, art, level design, and sheer amount of upgrades are great. It is just so deep for a game of its era, especially of that genre. This game is easily the equal of Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World, games I have spent a solid amount of time in. It is chillingly mysterious and so full of variety in the levels. The idea is that you are on one contiguous area the whole time instead of levels that you progress to and cannot go back. I have only put a couple hours into it, but I would go so far as to call it the pinnacle of side-scrolling games on the SNES.

I implore you to check it out.

Also, if you're interested you've probably heard, but The Hobbit has been greenlit, it will be directed by Peter "the man" Jackson, and will be released in two parts, Dec. 2012 and Dec. 2013, I believe. I guess pre-production actually began in '08 or '09, and they have had all the script, concept art, and sets pretty much hammered out for some time. What held it up were several lawsuits against New Line by Peter Jackson and the Tolkein Estate. I'm not sure I like the movie being split up into two parts, because they will have to make the second one "better" and the easiest way to do that is to not make the first one as good, and it seems like one continuous story to me.

But enough of that.

I saw the movie "Memento" recently, and it was crazy. And good. But not crazy good, because then we would have to put it in our mouths.

Also, I played Spider-man Shattered Dimensions. I only got about 34%, but it's pretty fun. All four Spider-mans have a slightly different play style. Ultimate has the tendrils and rage mode, Noir has to stick (no pun intended) to the shadows to survive and perform stealth takedowns, and 2099 moves really fast and has a slo-mo power that slows enemies down. And Amazing, is just classic.
The game has some pretty funny parts, too, it's never too long between chuckles or laughs. Decent third person action with a good amount of upgrades. The tactics, from what I saw, are fairly varied. One level you are fighting sand creatures, and have to throw water barrels into them before you can inflict damage. Also on the same level, Sandman turns into a huge tornado, and you have to webzip between flying debris. Pretty epic boss fight.

If you are a Spider-man fan, you have to try it. If you like third person action games, give it a shot, it's different. If you don't like these types of games, well, you may not like it.

So, I kinda forgot about this blog. I mean, I knew I had it, at some point, but didn't think about it until now. I thought "I wish I had a blog...". And so I do.

A lot has happened since I started this thing, so just to keep my dignity, I will state that this blog was started before I even heard of that "Twilight" crap. It might have even been before the books came out, but it was at least long before the movies.

The name was inspired by "The Twilight Zone". It's an old tv show, most kids these days would probably think vampires first (however I haven't seen the show as it ran decades before I was born).

I've only seen probably 5 new movies or so since I last posted here. I liked Inception. And Kick-Ass. And Shutter Island. In that order. Well, I liked Inception the best.

Halo: Reach is awesome (!!), but would be more awesome if I could play it online. Internet situation prevents me.

Well, it's that time of year again, and just in case you aren't keeping up and happen to be reading this particular blog, you're in luck! Today you'll find out that there is a new Halo 3: ODST trailer out, showing off new characters, weapons, and a brief shot of a new gameplay mode, Firefight. They didn't say much about that. Anyway, there is also a new Halo game coming out, called...

Halo: Reach! I can't wait for this one. In this, you will, apparently, get to relive the Fall of Reach, the battle just before Halo 1 where all the Spartans (supposedly) died. If Chief and his fellow super-soldiers are Spartans, then this battle is their Thermopylae (like 300, for those who don't know Greek history).

X-men Origins: Wolverine the Video Game

This game rocks. A lot.

Edit: After beating this game, I can say with all assuredness that this is the best movie game ever made. Ever. The movie was good, but this is better. If you want to be amazed and have an evisceratingly good time, I recommend this game. Unfortunately, it is too late to get the weapon-X arena bonus, but the game is still great without it. 9/10. Set Sail for Fail!

For the first time in 200 years, a ship flying the American flag was seized by pirates. This just shows how far this pirate problem has gone. The crew fought and took back the ship, but the captain is still a captive of the Somali pirates.

Now is a great time for mercenaries and bounty hunters, with these nebulous enemies, the government wants deniable assets to take down ringleaders who are hiding in areas where a full military assault might not be wise. So, if any of you are considering being a Mattias Nilson or a Boba Fett, now's the time; especially with the "rewards for justice" the U.S. govt. has going.

I wasn't feeling imaginitive when I thought of the title, but just updating the blog to keep it current. Halo Wars is cool, but I got jipped and didn't get the flaming warthog for pre-ordering the game. Watchmen was cool, but gay. Read my review on the KGC. Anyway, I just finished watching the tv show "Jericho". It is the best show I've ever seen, and I watch Lost, 24, and Prison Break. Jericho was cancelled after season 1, but fans sent 20,000 bags of nuts (you have to see the show to understand) to protest it, and a second season was filmed, but was cut off after 7 episodes, because it suggested that the government might not have our best interests in mind, and actually might be controlled by corporations. Anyway, this was a great show, and I'm glad it didn't go further actually because it had a great ending. Unlike Lost, which just goes on and on, I don't care if it's only 2 or 3 seasons, just tell me the answers! Don't keep adding mysteries and confusing us further (teleporting islands?!??!1). I think the writers just want to kill as many characters as possible, and when they can't think of a remotely reasonable explanation for bringing in a new character, they just bring the old ones back to life. I still watch that show, though. Anyway, I reccomend Jericho, and the second season is even better, but you have to watch the first one to get what's going on.

Two days until Halo Wars. Five days until Watchmen. 90 days until school is over. I can't take it!!! Anyway, I entered a contest for winning a Mythic Map pack code, and I lost. :( . They were 2nd and goal, and Pittsburgh intercepted it, ran it all the way to the end zone. EPIC FAIL! One of the biggest epic fails ever. Oh No! Don't say it's so. It is. I have succumbed to "Obamania" which I ranted about in the last post.

If nothing else, Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th president of the United States of America, is a gamer. That's right, he owns a Wii, and apparently even plays it. Now, if he can beat me in a match on Super Smash Bros., he might even get my vote in '12.

Obama is everywhere. When I go to a bookstore, there is a whole table of Obama books, in the magazine section, there are magazines about Obama, even gardening magazines. I don't care how he keeps his garden or what kind of dog he has. For goodness' sake he's even the first thing I saw when I turned on my xbox 360. AGH! Oh, he also spent a high estimate of $150 million on his inaugural ball. Way to be responsible. He's of to a great start!... Oh, wait, the economy needs tending to... he'll just deal with it after explaining these astronomical costs.

Kill Hitler

Tom Cruise's new movie about a Nazi officer in the Third Reich that does not agree with Hitler's principles is definitely worth watching. It is suspenseful, thought provoking, and based on a true story. Cruise delivers a convincing and powerful performance as Colonel Von Stauffenberg, and the supporting actors are great, such as Bill Nighy. The Colonel joins a group of high-ranking German officers who plan to overthrow Hitler's regime after being injured in battle. See this movie if you like war movies, suspense movies, mysteries, etc. 9/10 stars.

p.s. Merry belated Christmas, and Happy New Year's Eve! (Unless you're in China, then you'll have to wait a month or two.)

The Earth is still spinning...

Movies: I saw "The Day the Earth Stood Still", the remake of the 1951 movie, with Keanu Reeves. It was decent. Perhaps worth a DVD rental. There were some good special effects shots that were cool, but the story sucked.

*spoilers*

Klaatu (Reeves) is an alien sent by a group of extraterrestrial civiliztions to save Earth. A scientist (Jennifer Connelly) who is recruited by the U.S. govt. to help understand the alien's arrival is pleased to hear this, until she finds out he is only here to save planet Earth, not its sentient inhabitants. In fact, he is here to destroy us. He says "your planet is one of the few in the cosmos that is capable of sustaining complex life" yet he wants to destroy the most complex life this planet sustains. Fail. It is pretty much a propaganda bit for global warming, like "The Happening", except a little better. Never see "The Happening". They run from trees (which don't move) and in the end it is insinuated that the whole Earth dies because we chop down too many trees, or drive too many SUVs. Shyamalayan's worst, by far. That's the end of my review rant.

Hey, I know I haven't posted in a decade and a half, but I have been busy. BUSY. Anyway, I don't have much in the way of news or anything. Well, someone was born with two faces but I don't mean that kind of news. Anyway, if you don't have SSBB, get it, and if you don't have a Wii, find someone who does and steal it. I'm joking. If you seriously think I meant steal it, well, never mind. Also some good games you should try that are older, Marvel Ulimate Alliance, mainly if you're a fan, and KOTOR (the first one). Nikola Tesla was essentially (and sadly) erased from the history books, but one like myself has done extensive research on many topics, although I do not claim to be an expert on anything myself, except maybe video games, but even there I am far outranked. Nikola Tesla essentially invented the radio, as much as if not more than Marconi, sold patents to Thomas Edison, which he most likely used to invent the lightbulb. Tesla also discovered technology that was bought out by private companies and is just now coming back into discovery and interest. So, please I implore you all to not just mindlessly eat and regurgitate what the media tells you, all the major media news companies are privately owned and surely do not have your or my best interest in mind, they only care about money, and will do anything to get it. All that to say, you gotta learn things for yourself. But when it all gets too stressful, I just kick back and kill some aliens or terrorists on 360. Next post won't be so heavy.

Well, I suppose it is time to celebrate. I have 5,000 hits now, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl is finally out! There are 33 characters to my knowledge, including previously thought left out ones like Capt. Falcon, Mr. Game and Watch, and Falco. There are the ones who have been a long time coming, like Diddy, Wario, Olimar, Pokemon trainer, etc. And then there are the ones which are unexpected (At least I didn't expect them), like ROB, most recently featured in Mario Kart DS, and Lucario (Idk, it's like a pokemon or something). Well, I hope to play it soon, but until then, I will occasionally check as I have been, at smashbros.com.

Today, I have some recommendations. First, games. If you have not played Halo 3, you obviously have been in a coma for the past 5 months. If you have not played Call of Duty 4, you have been seriously deprived, and if you haven't played Republic Commando, then you should requisition it at your nearest video entertainment dealing facility ASAP, soldier! Now, a good movie that you all have likely seen is I Am Legend. But, on the off chance that you haven't seen it, then do so. If you search youtube for mcdonald's rap, you will get a clever and funny video.* It is different than the one in my sidebar. Also, some good reading as far as recent books go, I am almost done with the Republic Commando series. It is a well-done book, but a more than common Star Wars knowledge is needed to understand it. At least see all 6 Star Wars movies and play Republic Commando through, that should do it. Anyway, see ya later. Happy surfing!

This post is mainly to say that Boba Fett is the coolest guy ever. That said, there is a new live action TV show that is supposed to start filming at the end of this year, following the CG clone wars cartoons. The show will feature Boba Fett as one of the central characters and will take place during the almost 20 year story gap between episodes 3 and 4. It is presumed that both Daniel Logan (young Boba from 2) and Temuera Morrison (Jango/Clones) will play him at different times in his life. George Lucas said this will be a darker, grittier view of Star Wars (paraphrase). If you're a big Star Wars fan, you probably already know this, and if you're not, then you probably don't care. Following this train of thought, one would wonder why I am posting about this. I would answer, "Because Boba Fett is cool." Anyway, I have one closing thought. Press button, receive bacon. Word is there's a new video game coming out based on the TV show Lost. I don't know about you guys, but I've been waiting for this one a long time. It is called Lost: Via Domus, and you play as a survivor of Oceanic flight 815, called Elliot. The game is played through "episodes" which will feature 3rd person adventure action, and flashbacks of this new character. You will see characters from the show, and discover new mysteries. The game takes you through the events of seasons 1 and 2 from a new perspective. I believe it is coming in February. Also, the Force unleashed is slated to be released in April.

Hey everyone! Here's a Halo update. As some of you may know, the Halo movie, rumored to be in production, is no longer being funded. It may never come about. Good news is, Halo Wars is coming out next year and Bungie is working on another unnamed Halo 360 game. Peter Jackson has switched focus from the aforementioned movie, to this game. I don't know about the validity of that picture of a Halo DS game, but being a DS owner, it would be at the top of my list of games to buy. Word is, Bungie was working on Halo for other platforms, but even though they recently went independent, Microsoft is still holding on to Halo licensing rights. Way to ruin it for everyone again, Bill. Oh, well. At least I've got Halo 3.

Well, winter's coming in soon, and you know what that means! No, not more time for HALO, it's time for sledding, snowball fights, all sorts of things. Well, and HALO too. So, here are some more HALO 3 tips.

Some skulls that are not mentioned in the guide, if you have one, are the grunt birthday party skull, which makes grunts explode with confetti when you headshot them, and the cowbell skull. This makes explosions bigger. The grunt birthday party skull is in level 2, in the pipes. The blind skull, which takes your HUD, is in level 1.

Halo 3 Tips and Hints!

Check it out... I've got the lowdown on the greatest entertainment release in the history of Earth. Here are some good tips on Halo 3 campaign and multiplayer.

CAMPAIGN TIPS:
-to get invincibility, kill a brute chieftain from a distance with a head shot weapon so he doesn't see you. Run to his dead body and pick up the invincibility.

-When you have a Spartan Laser, use four shots (it only has five) on high value targets such as wraiths, turrets, and chieftains, then give the Laser with one shot left to a marine and protect him. He will have infinite ammo for it and take out vehicles for you the rest of the level.

-A great combo is dual-wield a Spiker with a Plasma Rifle. Also, dual Spikers is good.

-Another use for the Deployable cover is to block off a small passageway, to stop enemies that can overwhelm you like Flood or Drones.

-Spike grenades will stick to enemies, but unlike plasma grenades will also stick onto walls, ceilings, etc.

-Flamethrowers will easily dispatch pure form Flood, but will only set the combat forms on fire, while they continue to run at you.

MULTIPLAYER TIPS:
-The Hornet never appears standard on a map. Use custom game settings or Forge to bring it in.

-When playing Capture the Flag, bring two people over to the other base on a Mongoose, have the passenger jump off and throw a flare down to temporarily blind the opponents, and run out with the flag. Back up the Mongoose with a Ghost or Prowler perhaps.

-The Spartan Laser is the ultimate anti-air weapon, aside from the Missile Pod. The Missile Pod is a portable turret, and as such will slow you down, and be hard to find. The Rocket Launcher does not lock on any more.

-The Needler is no longer dual-wieldable, but it is more powerful.

-Use trip mines against opponents, vehicles, and plant on spawn points.

You know... of course I got it. You know what I got. I would have posted about immediately, but I had to play it. HALO 3!!! The best game in this universe. It's awesome, I got it on the 25th. If you haven't played it yet, get over to someone's house who has it right away. There are a lot of new features that were not advertised such as a flamethrower, a fourth type of grenade, which is an incendiary grenade, and about a dozen equipment objects. Usually, I would have been the first to report on something like this, but I have school and I spent any time that I would have spent on the computer on my new Xbox 360 Elite edition. Anyway, I still haven't beat the game yet, but I will answer any questions about HALO 3 that anyone has. See ya!

A new movie is coming out on September 14th that I have not heard anything about until I saw an ad for it. That's weird, it just jumps out of nowhere. It is one of the few big effects movies that is not a sequel this summer/fall (or a remake). The preview has me all excited about it, though. It has a cheesy pretense, dragons attack cities, about the oldest story in the book. But, the effects look really cool. It is a live action movie, not a cartoon thing. Similar action as Transformers, but substitute giant lizards for robot cars. P.S. couldn't find the trailer I saw, here's a foreign one. Some parts are really cool.

Anyone here like Casino Royale? Well, next year (or possibly november '07 highly unlikely) Daniel Craig is back in black with Bond 22, or that's the tentative title. Not much else on that except that it is supposedly the first ever direct sequel to a previous bond movie. It seems as though another Spider-man flick is inevitable, but not likely to include Raimi or Maguire. Hulk open date is June 27, preceded by Iron Man on May 2.

Well, I saw the Bourne Ultimatum yesterday, August 3, and I have to say that it is possibly the best of the three. This is one of the only trilogies where I was not disappointed by any of the three. It seems as if every Bourne movie outdoes the last in almost every aspect, yet all are good. If you have not seen any of these movies, I suggest you do. If you have seen the others, see the new one. Note: the release date for Halo 3 is September 25 in America and 26 in Europe, not the 16th as I said in June.

To accompany the man in the hat's new adventure next summer, is a Lego Indiana Jones video game! The preview for it shows similar gameplay to Lego Star Wars, and it is also made by Traveler's Tales(TT games). Additionally, fans of the Star Wars Clone Wars series, a new, more realistic series in 3-D has been revealed. The trailer for both of these can be most easily accessed at starwars.com. X-men fans, listen up! Wolverine the movie is starting production in November, and is supposed to come next year. Hugh Jackman is playing as Logan, with Gavin Hood directing the film. Tuesday, a possibly mentally retarded girl named Dora was caught crossing the border with a monkey and a boy. The boy escaped as Dora yelled "Go Diego, go!". She refused to give up her backpack, claiming that the border patrol was going to interrogate it. After debating the pack's sentience, the patrol discovered that, among other things such as an overly simplistic map, there was marijuana contained in the pack. The officers were about to confiscate the contraband when a fox like creature with a headband "swiped" it away. The only information gained from the interrogation of the bilingual child was that simply yelling "swiper no swiping" at the fox would have averted the fiasco. The boy was found in the desert a few hours later riding a scooter. The detainment methods for the children are being decided, and the monkey was sent to the zoo. The fox was tracked down and shot.

I've just about had it. Talking rats. Talking penguins. Talking dogs. Someone, please make it stop! Disney, what have you done to the world?! The most recent addition to the line of personified animals is Ratatouille, a movie about a talking, cooking rat in Paris. But before I go off about unreal rodents, how about those penguins? Let's see, March of the Penguins in '05, Happy Feet early this year, the spoof Farce of the Penguins also this year, and now Surf's Up, which my little brother has already seen two or three times. Then, the zoo films. Madagascar in '05, then The Wild in '06, and Over The Hedge last year. Now, Underdog (to my chagrin) is coming out later this year. Synopsis: talking, flying dog. Rewind one or two years and you will find a movie titled Good Boy featuring a... talking, flying dog. You all know of the other classic talking animal movies that have scratched, smiled, and slobbered their way onto the big screen. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have children movies, I'm just saying that we need a break. Once someone popularizes a theme(zoo escape, penguins), everyone hops on the band wagon and beats that poor little idea into the ground until we're all sick.

Well I'm pretty sure that Transformers was the coolest, most action-packed movie of the summer! I saw Die Hard 4, which was good, then I saw Transformers, which was incredible. The effects are mind blowing. I heard that pirates 3 took 300 million dollars to make, so I assume that this cost more, as it was more special effects intensive. As of the 10th, Transformers made $155,405,412 in the U.S. I think. The trend so far of movies getting better bodes well for the Bourne Ultimatum, and later on this year, I am looking forward to I Am Legend with Will Smith, a remake of Omega Man.

Everything! I heard that Die Hard 4 was the best of all of them, and I hope to see it soon. I see they went for the pg-13 rating this time, trying to widen their audiences. That's one way to do it. Also, I have some sweet videos going up here soon, like the Halo 3 preview, which I'm sure most of you have seen. But, BIG news, I am posting the preview to... Halo Wars, the Halo RTS!!! Oh Yeah!!! The preview is very cinematic, and as far as I know, it is only on Xbox 360, unfortunately not on PC. Funny, because most RTS games are for PC. It takes place before the destruction of Reach, for people who know their Halo lore. A.K.A., before Halo 1, which means you get to command Spartan IIs! Additionally, the Halo movie was supposed to come out next summer, but was indefinitely postponed when Universal and 20th Century Fox backed out of the deal. Peter Jackson, the executive producer, said (paraphrase) that they will see the potential in a Halo movie when they see the Halo hype. E.G., when Halo 3 comes out. So, I don't know when that movie is coming out. Halo 3 is coming this September 16, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's been a few days, and I believe it's okay to be French now. Maybe not. But, next week is Independence Day, and also the same day that Transformers the movie comes out. I am adding Digg buttons to my site, I hope they work, unlike the fuel my blog thing. Another history thing, WW1 started today in 1914, and ended today in 1919. Well, that would be Armistice Day, now known as Veteran's Day, but today in 1919 the treaty of Versailles was signed, telling Germany they needed to pay for everything and so forth. Am I boring you? Too bad. It is summer, and the pirates online thing isn't up as far as I know. They are late. Oh well, I hope nobody comes to their site. Apparently, China has labeled U.S. the biggest emitter of Co2. Cheney blames environmentalists. Who cares about Co2? One volcano eruption puts out more carbon dioxide than all of mankind combined in one whole year. And those volcanoes go off quite a lot. And another thing... GAS can't put holes in GAS! Example: Co2(carbon dioxide) does not put holes in O3(ozone). Well, that's enough of that, my next post will be lighter.

Well, I saw FF2 a couple days ago. Definitely better than the first one. I was thrown off a little before I saw it by the PG rating, but this movie just shows that you don't need to have PG-13 or R material for a good movie. Silver Surfer was pretty sweet. Also, my birthday was this month! Awesome. Watching Pirates 1 for the first time in a couple years makes me think of how much different the second two movies were. I still like the kraken though. Lots of votes for everyone but Harry Potter. Not that I care. The new Die Hard 4 trailer was at FF2, it was cool. Looking forward to that one! Rock on, Summer!

I certainly hope that it's more fantastic than the last, which was 20 percent special effects, 70 percent dialouge, and 1 percent cool action. The other 9 was the credits. Also, the Apple iPhone is coming on the 29th. Looking at the picture, I'm wondering, "Where's the phone"? I think it's going to be about $499. Not worth it. The same reason I don't want a PS3. I played it at Best Buy, it had incredible graphics, but was slow and glitchy. And $599. I will add the FF 2 trailer to the video bar for anyone who wants to see it.

Hello again, blog readers! Spring is almost over, which means Summer is almost here, which means it's time to harvest the crops! No, school's almost over!!! I don't know if any of the adult readers here are too excited about that, though. Unless you're a teacher. Which brings me to the question, how many of my readers are adults, and how many are kids? Interesting question, indeed. But, I'll never know. If I had to guess, I would really have no clue. On my hit counter it says 600 something, but I log into the hit counter website, and it tells me have like 2000 visitors (last time I checked, almost a month ago)! Oh well, I guess I'll never know. If anyone knows the difference between a hit and a visitor, please let me know. But for now, I'm going with the hit counter.

I recently read a thing on AOL calling Pirates of the Carribean "The new Star Wars". At first, I was skeptical, but the similarities are striking! For example, they compared Han Solo to Jack Sparrow. Both are always looking out for themselves, and both owe debts to ugly chracters (jabba the hutt, davy jones). Luke Skywalker and Will Turner both want to do the right thing, and both don't know their father until the second film. They then save their fathers, and both duel their fathers. Hmm. And of course both trios of characters have a royal female, Princess Leia and Elizabeth, the governer's daughter and pirate king in the third one. And, to top it off, both third films started with a rescue of the Jack Sparrow/Han Solo character from Davy Jones/Jabba the Hutt. Weird wild stuff.

Notable? Hardly.

Now I'm not dissing these guy's blogs, but I checked on some of the "blogs of note" at the blogger start page, and I really don't see what they've got up on me. Hey, I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial weekend. I did. I saw Pirates 3 again, (why not, right?) and I checked online and discovered that after pirates 3, spiderman 3 still holds the opening weekend record. Many postulate, and I agree because of the rate of decreasing money that spiderman 3 is making, that pirates will make more in the long run. I made a runescape file yesterday, unfortunately the name krakenkiller was taken (I hope it wasn't one of you) so I did krakenkilr. I made a file about a couple years ago, played 5 minutes, and haven't played since. I remembered the password, but not the username! Go figure, huh? I guess it was because of all the numbers it made me put at the end. So, if anyone could tell ne how to get anything better than a stupid bronze sword and wooden shield, it would be much appreciated.

I saw Pirates 3 yesterday, May 24, at 8:00. Actually, like 8:09 or something because I was in the back and some theater employee dressed like a pirate was talking about treasure or something and I couldn't hear what it was about. Anyway, it was cool, but it was weirder than the first or second. No kraken!!! Darn it. Oh well. It was funny, Jonny Depp was crazy as usual. Sailing his ship in the desert with a crew of himself. You'll have to see the movie to find out how that happened. I wonder if it will beat Spidey in the box office. We'll wait and see.

Hello again. Today is the 400th anniversary of Jamestown, the first permanent American settlement. I now have a video bar under links i think, if you have requests for videos to put up there, comment on here. I read a review on Pirates, didn't sound spectacular. I hope the Kraken is in it. That would be sweet. EW said the effects were great, but the plot was too complicated. Pretty typical for a third movie, huh? I'm still gonna see it, though. Spiderman 3 still holds the record for opening day and weekend after Shrek 3, but Shrek has done better this week. I'm thinking it will be close with Pirates, but you know how it is, something like Transformers will come out of nowhere and beat 'em all. All those hard-core 'bot fans will come out of the woodwork, or should I say, metalwork. Either way, it won't affect me, I'm just watching the movies.

Well a lot has happened since I was here last. Of course I went to the midnight showing of Spiderman 3. Definitely best of all three. A lot of reviews panned it but what do they know, right? Pirates 3 is coming out on friday, and in my tiny town our theatre got permission to release it a day early! Yeah! I suppose I should give Shrek 3 a mention, huh? No? Haven't seen it yet, won't for a while. Anyway, who saw the finale of 24 season 6? Don't give me any plot spoilers I've only seen the 1st 4 episodes and am waiting for the rest to come out on DVD. Or Hd-DVD. Or Blu-Ray. What's up with that? I'm stickin' with good ol' cheap DVD. Until it becomes like VHS or Beta. Appearently, Sony stopped making Beta video in 2002! What? Hmm. Some sweet movies comin' out this summer, Die-Hard 4, or live free or die hard with Bruce Willis, and I read that the guy who plays Mac in the Mac and Pc commercials is in it. I'm sure they'll find a way to blow up a windows computer in the movie. Also, spy action movie fans, the Bourne Ultimatum is coming in August. Looking forward to that. Anyway, I'll be posting again soon.

Or Scottish or Welsch for that matter. Today, May 1st 2007 is the 300th anniversary of Great Britain. On may 17th, 1707, the Acts of Union came into effect, uniting Scotland with England and Wales, forming Great Britain. Anyway... just thought someone should say something about it.
