Farcry 3

Grrg. I want to start a new blog, but every time I do, I post one post and leave the blog to die. I can't even remember some of the blogs I've started, and so I have scattered them across the great ocean of the internet, each one a ship with only one passenger, and no captain. Lost forever. So I'm here again, with some more thoughts on what has always been the vague theme of this particular blog: video game opinion.

I saw an ad for Farcry 3. I did not search it out, but in fact it came to me, rather rudely, in front of a Mass Effect 3 trailer that I did intentionally look up. But I humored it and watched the whole two and a half some minutes, as I greatly enjoyed its direct predecessor in spite of its flaws, which were occasionally quite frustrating. Seeing another sidebar ad, now, I have assembled a vibe that Ubisoft is putting out with their marketing campaign for the game; a sort of more realistic and therefore darker Borderlands vibe. I think it was the weird colors and the crazed characters and blatant disregard for human life displayed in the trailer combined with the sarcastic slogan "relax and unwind with us" on the ad. However, it somehow feels worn out. I like how Farcry 2 played it straight. No humor. And the trailer dropped one too many f-bombs, as if they were trying to be edgy. Which they most certainly will. But excessive language and violence doesn't cut it anymore, you actually have to try. Borderlands nailed the Borderlands vibe in 2008 (I think), and as an aside, I absolutely loved the Borderlands 2 trailer. Way to go, Gearbox. And having personally spoken with Randy Pitchford and co. at a couple of PAXes, I can testify that they genuinely seem like good people who care about their games, and more importantly, their gamers; this I found out when I was one of the few hundred to receive a free copy of Borderlands 2 at PAX Prime 2011.

But back to Farcry 3. Even though they are trying a bit too hard with their marketing, if the gameplay improves (that's the key word) upon FC2, then I will most likely get this game. FC2 certainly was a lot of fun, I dumped a little over 50 hours into it somehow (more than I put into Mass Effect 2 :O [which I liked better]), but there was something about the openness of the world that made me not care too much about the almost immediately respawning guard posts and the cars and guns that would break down after just a few hours' use. Do something better, Ubisoft! I don't know what, that's why I'm not a game designer.

Web News v.3

This month, on the 15th, the new Fantastic Four movie comes out. I certainly hope that it's more fantastic than the last, which was 20 percent special effects, 70 percent dialouge, and 1 percent cool action. The other 9 was the credits. Also, the Apple iPhone is coming on the 29th. Looking at the picture, I'm wondering, "Where's the phone"? I think it's going to be about $499. Not worth it. The same reason I don't want a PS3. I played it at Best Buy, it had incredible graphics, but was slow and glitchy. And $599. I will add the FF 2 trailer to the video bar for anyone who wants to see it.

Web News v.2

The poll results are in...
--Action/Adventure 10 (52%) Romance 2 (10%) Comedy 5 (26%) Horror 0 (0%) Don't have one 2 (10%) Total votes: 19--
Looks like nobody likes horror, but neither do I. It depends, though. People have different opinions on what is horror and what is not. There's like medium scary, really scary, and just lame. And then there's movies that just couldn't really be anything else, so they threw it in the category. Some films are just not meant to be liked e.g. "saw" series. If you like that stuff, I've got a counseling site link on the page here for you. In other world news, some guy found a toad as big as a small dog (2lbs.) in austrailia. You'd think it would be in kilograms. The final spiderman 3 preview has been released, it is only 3 minutes but shows a lot of new cool stuff like venom (at www.spiderman3oncomcast.com). The movie premiere is in Tokyo(?!?). Also, plastic shopping bags will be no more in San Fransisco. If the mayor signs it. I don't really care if he does or not. I'll try and put a new poll up today, so start feeling very opinionated! This was Web News (not brought to you by anyone).

Web News!

Today in Web News: i now have over 200 on the hit counter thanks to people like you! (once again for those who are new here, the first 2 digits just make it look cooler.) On the Official Twilighter Zone web page, Pacman is now there, and a little redesigning, with classics like Sonic and more in the game widget there. Also, in Oregon, my current state of residence, a "prehistoric" crocidile-fish beast has been found. Hmm... fraud, reality, or publicity stunt? It apparently came here from asia, they can supposedly tell because of the rib arrangement or something. This conjures up memories of Lake Placid. Those of you who know what i'm talkin' about, know what i'm talkin' about. Anyway, until next time this was Web News (not brought to you by anyone).

Real Life Batmobile... Sort Of.

If you thought th Lamborghini Gallardo Superlegerra* was fast, (0-60 in 3.8, 573 hp) try this on for size: the Bugatti 16.4 Veyron boasts 1,001 hp, and 0-100km/h (0-60) in 2.9 seconds... Faster than a McLaren F1!!! It has 16 cylinders, four turbochargers, carbon fiber chassis, all-wheel drive, 7 speed semi-manual dual clutch (0.2 seconds between gears), and a one-million euro price tag. About 1.4 million USD. Amazing.

p.s. I would put the awesome photos of this here, but for some reason, the photo-adding service isn't working. Sorry.

The Mummy Returns... Again.

Apparently, there are plans for the third movie in the mummy franchise with Brendan Fraser. Nothing is set in stone yet, though. All I know is somebody needs to stop waking up that dang mummy! Of course, he fell into hell ( or whatever that place was ) in the last one, but you never know. If this does make it to production, Oded Fehr ( the Magi protector dude ) is not currently planned to be in the movie, as the story does not call for his character. I just hope they don't mess up what was already good.

The Rebirth of the Camaro

The Camaro looks like it's coming back with a bold new look, although very remeniscent of the '69 model. here's a pic if you haven't already seen it.

Movie News

It appears as though there really is going to be another Indiana Jones film. I don't know how that will work out, with Harrison Ford being a lot older than he was, but Lucas and Spielberg wouldn't do anything that would turn out to be cheesy. Would they?
